Hi, I'm Craig pyle
Owner and Farmer at Hidden Holly Farm, TN
After thirty plus years of career focus and traveling, my family and I have decided to turn our family farm into a business. We love caring and raising our farm animals.
It is our pleasure to raise high quality all natural proteins. We enjoy letting goats be goats, cattle be cattle and pigs being pigs.
Raising our animals naturally, humanely, sustainably, while using practices appropriate to each animal’s species.
Cows should eat grasses (Pasture Salad Bar), chickens should eat bugs, and pigs should be free to wallow and root around near acorn trees.
We pray for the good earth which God has given us, and for the wisdom and will to conserve it.
philosophy
Our 125-acre farm is located in Monterey Tennessee on the western edge of the Cumberland plateau, also known as Monterey Mountain. The area is heavily forested and is deceptively rugged. Elevation 1883. The farm has multiple fields where our animals graze, developing silvo pastures, and vast timber for pigs to forage in.
- Raising our animals naturally, humanely, sustainably, while using practices appropriate to each animal’s species is the most important thing to us.
- Cows should eat grasses (Pasture Salad Bar), chickens should eat bugs, and pigs should be free to wallow and root around near acorn trees.
- We specialize naturally farrowing and raising our Berkshire pigs. Berkshire pork is known for its juiciness, flavor, and tenderness, is pink-hued and heavily marbled.
OUr farm
We purchased the farm in 1992. Our farm started out raising a few animals for personal use and supporting our love for horses. While raising our daughters there were always animals on the farm. Rabbits, ducks, chickens, goats, horses, cattle, and pigs. And we can’t leave out our dogs, cats, pet snakes, hamsters and guinea pigs.
When Covid surfaced, we all learned just how fragile our vertically integrated agricultural food system IS. The obvious question was how do we change to a more sustainable food production system and what part do I play in that solution? We believe the answer is locally produced food products that are raised or grown in a sustainable way without commercial fertilizers and harmful chemicals.
Our farm principals are based on regenerative agricultural, and pasture raised animals. We believe that cows should be eating grass, chickens should be on pasture eating grass and bugs, and pigs are at their best when they are foraging for food in the pasture and forest as nature intended.
Our goals are to produce clean and healthy meat products for our family, friends, and customers, be a partner in our community and be of service to others who want to raise their own animals.
We hope that you enjoy partnering with us and watching us learn how to be better farmers and stewards of the land and animals God has given us.
